Brand new interview with NewNowNext!

Robyn did a brand new interview with NewNowNext! They asked her a bunch of really good questions (not the same old questions everyone else keeps asking her).

She talked about the new video for “Who’s that Girl?” and how the song came about, why they recorded “Jack You Off”, how she recorded for Snoop and his reaction to the song, a little bit about her apparance on the show “Never Mind the Buzzcocks”, her boyfriend, and lastly how she did not meet Britney Spears.

Here’s the insert about the new video:

I’m dressed up as these different women. That’s the idea of the video: to show, you know, “Who’s that girl? What is a woman? What is a normal woman?” It’s a fun video ‘cause I’m dressed up as a hooker, as a racing-car woman … I’m dressed up as a Greta Garbo character, a junkie – all these different ones. It’s going to be good, I think!

Robyn will be playing a sold out show at Thekla in England on Wednesday night! Hopefully they wrapped up the video shoot for “Who’s that Girl?” in US these past few weeks, so we should be seeing it soon!

Check out an interview with Robyn @ Pitchfork

I remember being 13, 14 and trying to find student radio where I knew there would be hip-hop in the afternoon. It was really hard to tune in. Some people had satellites and they could get MTV, and I remember going to my friend’s house and recording “Yo! MTV Raps” on videotapes, and watching the same tape over and over for weeks before I would get a new one. So hip-hop was making its way outside America at that time, plus music like TLC and Mary J. Blige, stuff like that.

Robyn Returns to the U.S.

NEW YORK: The electro-pop Swede brings her glittery jams to the Highline Ballroom for her first Stateside performance in over a decade.

With her Rakamonie EP still fresh on store shelves, former teen-pop starlet Robyn made an great second impression at the Highline Ballroom last night (Feb. 5), logging her first stop back in the U.S. since crashing mainstream radio with her 1997 hit, “Show Me Love.” Popping her shoulders and wriggling her hips next to two synchronized drummers and a keyboardist, the pixie-like platinum blonde seamlessly ripped through select Rakamonie cuts as well as tunes from her 2007 self-titled effort. After cooing her way through electro-buzz jams such as “Crash and Burn” and “Konichiwa Bitches,” Robyn barely seemed to take a breath between her buttery vocal trills, making thumpers such as “With Every Heartbeat” and “Who’s That Girl” fuel the sold-out crowd’s raucous, non-stop energy.

Come encore time, Robyn embraced her dance-pop past to deliver a stripped-down performance of “Show Me Love.” Featuring a simple pairing of soaring vocals and a bleeping synth line, fans got their chance to fill in the track’s lush harmonies. A punked-out version of the playfully sexy “Jack U Off” and “Be Mine,” complete with an acoustic piano, left the masses totally sated. Welcome back, Robyn!
