The mechanical dreamboat we all know as Robyn is getting ready for the release of “Body Talk PT 1,” the first installment in a series of three 2010 album releases. A high pressure decision, for sure. But as I answer the phone, finding her high-pitched buttery voice on the other end, she sounds as calm as a kitten.
This Swedish siren started her audio journey very early in life, being pushed by execs to become the next Christina Aguilera, yet slowly taught them she was anything but. Her new CD is the perfect example of how she eschews the norm. The dynamic pounds and clicks behind each track are beyond anything that exist in my musical library.
From the futuristic hard hits of “Fembot” to the steam-train chug-a-lug cadence of “Dancehall Queen,” each of the songs on the LP are pure new-age pop. But is Christina’s upcoming “Bionic” going to ruin the cybernetic sidewalk she has laid out over the years? Robyn thinks there is plenty of room. Read more…
